Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive health care system having begun more than three thousand years ago. While it is an ancient art that has prevented and treated disease for thousands of years, it is thoroughly applicable to the wide range of health concerns posed by today’s modern world.

Originating in China, acupuncture is part of a Taoist system of medicine that considers each individual as an integral sum of physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects, constantly flowing, changing, and affecting one another.  A practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) seeks to achieve balance in the human system by addressing both the root cause of the disease or imbalance as well as the accompanying symptoms.

TCM consists of several components including acupuncture, herbology, dietetics, massage, and energetics.  It is through the appropriate administration and application of these modalities that physical and energetic balance is restored in the body, thereby returning the patient to a state of health and well being.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of sterile, solid needles into certain points on the body to regulate functional activity and blood circulation. The thin, noninvasive needles are presterilized, individually wrapped and sealed, and are only for one-time use.   Various treatment principles and needling techniques are applied, depending on the presenting circumstances. Sometimes the acupuncture point is in need of tonification or support, whereas other times the point is dispersed or sedated.

An acupuncture session  harmonizes the intricate inner workings of the physiological and psycho-emotional states by utilizing various principles as needed to arrive at a holistic treatment.  The treatment is an elegant multifaceted means of balancing deficiencies and excesses, therefore providing a feeling of deep relaxation, inner peace, and rejuvenation.
